The largest Gold Coast sailing event has moved dates... This year Sail Paradise Regatta will be run from Thursday, January 2nd to Sunday January 5th, 4 days earlier than normal, allowing participants to bring their families for a long weekend of racing and sightseeing on the Gold Coast.

The early bird $180 entry fee for the 2020 Bartercard Sail Paradise includes FREE berthing from January 1 to January 6, in Queensland's peak season. Allowing all confirmed participants berthing at SYC Marina easy access to laundry, washrooms, restaurants, bars and gym.

Southport Yacht Club encourages all sailors to be quick and take advantage of the reduced rate, which is well below the rack rate offered in Hotels, in low season.

The free berthing is on offer to motivate sailors to join the Regatta, bring their families to enjoy a Queensland Summer holiday and the extra festivities of the race.

The event is open to the full spectrum of offshore racing yachts - from the upper echelon of racing Monohulls and Multihulls through to the Cruising and Trailable yachts.

The event is building momentum, now with 64 Entries to date. These include 28 Entries for the (PHS) Mono & Multihull Divisions, 32 Entries for the (CBH) Division for Trailable Yachts and 4 entries in the Monohull IRC Division thus far. The online entry system can be found on the event website: www.sailparadise.com.au

11th Bartercard Sail Paradise, early bird entries are open till the 31st October

The appeal of offshore
Is there still appeal? Have we made it too onerous? Why would someone take it up now? I had been pondering. Yes. Marquee events have no issue attracting entrants. Middle Sea, Transpac, Cape to Rio, Fastnet, and Hobart all spring to mind instantly, but what of the ‘lesser' races? Lots of boats in pens (slips) a lot of the time Posted on 18 May
