Emirates Team New Zealand has taken delivery of the carbon foil arms for their first AC75.
They arrived today (August 14,2019) in a crate from Persico Marine in Bergamo, Italy. Emirates Team New Zealand filmed the opening of the case after it arrived by truck at their Albany building facility.
The foils have been through a tortuous construction process after the first prototype broke during destruction testing at less than the anticipated load.
The leading edge of the foils clear finished and may not be altered by the team. The trailing edge of the foil is finished ready for attachment of the tapered trailing edge developed and built by the team.
Only Challenger of Record, Luna Rossa have announced a launch date for their AC75. The Italian boat will be launched on September 9 at Cagliari, Italy.
