The wind finally decided to show up today in Paracas, Peru. All of our Canadian sailors were able to get out on the water and complete at least one race before coming on to the shore.

Finally getting a chance to get out on the water, our dinghy sailors in the Laser, Laser Radial and Sunfish we're able to complete two races setting the tone for the rest of the event.

In the Sunfish, Luke Ramsay starts off the event with a 4th place finish after day 3. The first race was more challenging for this sailor as the wind died halfway through leaving him in the middle of the fleet. But that only motivated him more as he came out first after the second race, scoring a bullet for Canada. He comments; " I had a good battle with the Brazilian sailor, he rounded ahead of me for the last reach mark and I reached over the top of him and jibed onto starboard and got him right at the finish so it was an exciting last finish."

For our skiff sailors, Alexander Heinzemann and Justin Barnes, today was a good day. This duo scored a bullet in the second race of the day, placing them in 2nd overall after three races.

Canadian standings after Day 3:

  • Laser - Robert Davis - 4th
  • Laser Radial - Sarah Douglas - 2nd
  • Sunfish - Luke Ramsay - 4th
  • RS:X Women - Olivia Mew - 5th
  • Kiteboarding - Michael Brodeur - 5th
  • 49er - Alexander Heinzemann and Justin Barnes - 2nd
