As every year we have tried to keep the rating differential within the classes as small as possible whilst at the same time grouping the most similar boats together.
Class two is in effect the Performance 40 class. Class five is a very good grouping with a lot of J boats and similar together. The cut-off between class six and class seven was much debated but in the end the J/24 made an obvious cut-off for the top of class seven with a jump up to 28 and 30 footers thereafter.
Class 0 - 1.400 to 1.270
Class 1 - 1.269 to 1.130
Class 2 - 1.129 to 1.082
Class 3 - 1.081 to 1.065
Class 4 - 1.064 to 1.020
Class 5 - 1.019 to 0.955
Class 6 - 0.954 to 0.883
Class 7 - 0.882 and below
Cruiser Div A - 1.150 to 1.047
Cruiser Div B - 1.046 to 1.001
Cruiser Div C - 1.000 to 0.970
Cruiser Div D - 0.969 and below
Within the cruiser division we have more flexibility this year with four divisions rather than three last year and that has radically improved the tightness of the rating bands which will undoubtedly make for much closer racing for everybody.
