Garmin returns for fourth consecutive edition of Clipper Race

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is pleased to announce Gamin will return as an official supplier for the 2019-20 edition of the global ocean adventure, which will start from London's St. Katharine Docks on 1 September, 2019.
This is the fourth edition of the Clipper Race to feature Garmin. As a world leader in marine electronics, Garmin will assist the eleven teams of non-professional sailors as they race 40,000 nautical miles around the globe.
Garmin is an integral part of the journey of the 700 crew members taking part in the Clipper 2019-20 Race and makes products engineered on the inside for life on the outside. The GPS navigation, radar, communication and wind data technology comes into its own as the teams spend eleven months circumnavigating the world, crossing six oceans along the way.

Around 700 people from 44 different countries will be taking part in the Clipper 2019-20 Race - the twelfth edition of the biennial ocean race. Over eleven months, the crew, under the leadership of a professional Skipper and Mate, will cross six oceans and be tested to their absolute limit by Mother Nature. What makes the challenge all the more incredible is the fact that every crew member is a non-professional sailor, with the teams made up of doctors, homemakers, lawyers, builders, nurses, farmers, CEOS, and surf instructors.
Founded in 1996 by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, who in April this year celebrated 50 years since becoming the first person to sail solo and non-stop around the world, the Clipper Race is the only event of its kind for non-professional sailors.
The eleven Clipper Race teams will begin the circumnavigation at St Katharine Docks on 1 September, and race from London, UK, to Portimão, Portugal; across the Atlantic to Punta del Este, Uruguay; the South Atlantic to Cape Town, South Africa; across the Southern Ocean's Roaring Forties to Fremantle, Western Australia; around to the Whitsundays on the east coast of Australia, back into the Northern Hemisphere to China where teams will race to Qingdao, via Sanya and Zhuhai; across the mighty North Pacific to Seattle, USA; to New York via the famous Panama Canal; to Bermuda and then it's a final Atlantic crossing to Derry-Londonderry; before arriving back to London as fully proven ocean racers.
