GBR Cadet team at the Polish National Championships

Fourteen GBR Cadet Teams have made the trip out to the Polish holiday resort of Krynica Morska up on the Baltic Coast ready for the World Championships which starts on 29 July. Some 130 Boats from twelve nations are entered, split across the main Worlds Event, with the Cadet Promotional Regatta which runs alongside. As a warm-up event the Polish National Championships were held over 25-27 July with 120 boats all racing together as a single fleet.
This was an opportunity for Team GBR to check their speed against top competition from other European, Australian and Argentinian crews ahead of the Worlds.
Racing was held on the vast Zalew Wislany lake with nine races held over three days. Conditions varied from 8-10 knots on day 1 up to 16-20 knots on day 2 (with something in between on day 3) racing round an outer loop trapezoid course.
Team GBR performed exceptionally well with three boats in the top ten and Lia Fletcher/Kali Karaskas achieving second overall behind Thibaud Dirix/Thomas Winand of Belgium, with early series leaders Julian Finsterbusch/Franco Barone (ARG) in third.
