2019 Zoom 8 Boy's and Girl's World Championship at Circolo vela Arco

by Elena Giolai 20 Jul 2019 23:42 PDT

As the summer season comes to life, the Circolo Vela Arco has assigned the world titles of the ZOOM8 class after a wonderful week of wind and sunshine, a single spread above all between northern and eastern Europe.

For Italian experts and enthusiasts, the discovery of a boat used by teenagers, robust and fairly inexpensive, which attracted many young people as perhaps they had never seen from Estonia, a region that is still not very present at regattas on Garda Trentino.

So in this world championship, for which the staff of the Circolo Vela Arco has provided experience, hospitality and spaces always very appreciated by the competitors, there was an opportunity to broaden the vision of sailing, which has a number of classes for all pockets, skills, spirit and nations. A further demonstration of the importance of the activity of sailing clubs, which are also used for sailing tourism, creating an induced for the territory not just.

It was also a nice week of regattas, in which only on the penultimate day the Italian Sailing Federation Race Committee had to suffer to take home some tests: but the stubbornness of the regatta officers and the incredible resource of Garda Trentino in terms of wind, they made sure that - even if late - even in difficult weather conditions the three scheduled daily regattas could be disputed, as always done and finish with 12 fine tests.

For the conquest of the final podium, the inclusion of the second gap and some protests, have left uncertainty until the last race. Estonia, Denmark and Finland were the most present nations in the top positions with the victory in the two male and female categories, respectively of the Danish Asholm-Bradley and the Estonian Hälm, who despite a final undertone day, succeeded to win with advantage over the Finnish Held.

From the hundreds of racers of these days with the Zoom8, much higher numbers are expected at the Circolo Vela Arco for the "Ora Cup Ora" of the Optimist class - queen of the youth activity of base: the classic summer regatta in the in recent years it has touched increasingly higher appearances, with the winners who have always distinguished themselves in the top leagues of various classes, such as the Marco Gradoni phenomenon, which won three editions, as well as the world titles won in the Optimist class, first in the history.

The Circolo Vela Arco is ready to let young sailors spend other fantastic days dedicated to sport, nature and friendship, values transmitted by sailing and welcoming members.
