The International 505 Class has announced that registration for the 2019 5o5 European Championships to be hosted by the Sønderborg Yacht Club will close soon.

The 2019 505 European Championships will take place August 6-10, 2019 at the Sonderborg Yacht Club and is open to all current 505 class members.

Known for its great sailing conditions, beautiful beaches and quaint well preserved town Sønderborg will be a terrific location for this year's 505 European Championships. Sonderborg Yacht Club has held several high-level events in the past, so a championship-caliber event is anticipated.

Around 100 boats are expected for the event, including defending champions and Olympic medalists Jorgen and Jacob Bojsen Moller (DEN), past World Champions Jan Saugmann (DEN), Wolfgang Hunger and Holger Jess (GER), Howard Hamlin and Jeff Nelson (USA), Mark Upton Brown and Ian Mitchell (GBR) and Olle Wenrup (SWE).

"The recent 5o5 Euro Cup event in Kiel is a good indicator of the level of competition we expect" said Association President Michael Quirk. "Hunger and Jess seem back on form after their convincing Kiel Week win, Olympic medalists Jorgen and Jacob Bojsen Moller (DEN) are always competitive and then there are several other teams that are expected to contest strongly".

The racing kicks off on August 6 with 10 races planned during the four-day series. Racing will kick off on August the 6th at 11 am.

All races will be tracked by TracTrac and broadcast live.

Registration, entry lists, results, race reports, tracking link and all information on the regatta and venue can be found at the event website here.
