The 2019 Para World Sailing Championships wrapped up yesterday in Puerto Sherry, El Puerto de Santa María, Cadiz, Spain. This event saw around 100 sailors from 28 nations competing in a five-day event.
Welcoming past Paralympic sailors and Canadian Sailing Team athletes, John McRoberts and Scott Lutes. This dynamic duo started sailing in the RS Venture Connect last year and have been giving sailors a run for their money ever since. Staying at the top of the fleet throughout the week with multiple first place finishes, this team battled it out for a winner takes all final against Italy.
After a good race, this Canadian team finished in second place taking home a silver medal, yet again placing Canada on the map in this new fleet.
Paralympian, Jackie Gay finished top Canadian boat in the 2.4mR, placing seventh overall. Followed by CSDS member, Peter Eagar, with a tenth place finish.
