Sunsail announces £3.75 million investment in UK charter fleet

by Zak Hillard 2 Jul 2019 07:33 PDT 2 July 2019

Leading yacht charter holiday company, Sunsail, announces the addition of a host of new Jeanneau yachts to its UK fleet. The investment, worth £3.75 million, will deliver 15 new Sunsail 41.0 yachts in 2020, with the planned addition of a further 10 yachts the following year.

Based at Port Solent in Hampshire, the new fleet will be available for charters exploring the stunning UK south coast, starting in Portsmouth, Southampton, Cowes, Lymington and throughout the Solent. Perfect for first time sailors and more seasoned adventurers, the new yachts offer the comfort of cruising combined with confident racing performance.

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 410s offer a beautiful, modern and spacious interior creating an unrivalled boating experience. Taking inspiration from modern racing boats, the Sun Odyssey 410 features a full-length chine, twin rudders and a reverse bow that rises out of the water. At a total length of 12.95m, the deck construction boasts 30% weight savings compared to traditional decks, resulting in a boat that is balanced, responsive and rewarding to helm.

The newest members of Sunsail's expansive fleet will be available for charter at all major UK sailing events, including Cowes Week, Round the Island Race, Little Britain Challenge Cup and Southampton Sailing Week. The yachts will also be used at Sunsail events, cruising charters and as part of sailing school courses.

Simon Cross, Sunsail President, comments on the investment, "At Sunsail we are continuously looking at ways to improve the experience for our customers and we are proud to announce the most significant investment by a charter company in the UK for the last decade. The acquisition of these top-quality new yachts will provide a fantastic matched fleet sailing opportunity that is fun, exciting, safe and combines comfort and luxury, unrivalled by any other charter fleet in the UK. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 410s also feature a more efficient engine design than our current fleet, and this is another way that we are demonstrating our commitment to protecting the environment and waters in which we operate."

Sunsail expects to see a substantial windfall for the local economy over the next 10 years following the arrival of these new vessels, with visiting clientele supporting restaurants, hotels, marinas and various other businesses throughout the region.

Antoine Chancelier, Jeanneau Sailboat Product Director, adds, "This is a brilliant way that charterers can experience the thrill of sailing a new Jeanneau yacht, as they will be available for charter at prestigious UK sailing events. We celebrate the strength of our partnership with Sunsail. The Sun Odyssey 410 has been extremely popular since launch and is the perfect fit for Sunsail's customers' needs, being equally comfortable in both cruising and racing scenarios. We look forward to seeing the fleet in action racing at iconic UK sailing events."

Sunsail is pleased to announce that four founding sponsors have already recognised the importance of the new fleet and will have exclusive naming rights for the first four yachts - Breathe Oceanic, TheYachtMarket.com, Opihr Gin and Raymarine.

Charters with the new Sunsail 41.0s will commence in March 2020. To find out more about how to book contact Sunsail on 02392 222221 or .
