A light wind inaugurated the final series of the J/70 European Championship, with Italian crews in the top three of the Gold standings. A series of general recalls forced the Race Committee to raise the black flag against illustrious competitors such as reigning champions, Enfant Terrible, the English Eat, Sleep, J, Repeat and the Russians of ArtTube.

The gold fleet, which had only one race, has Yacht Club Rimini Sailing Team (Farneti-Ivaldi) in the lead, followed by Jcurve (Roversi-Fracassoli) and DAS Sailing Team (Zampori-Fonda). The leading Corinthian crew is La Femme Terrible (Brescacin-Tomsic).

The Silver fleet, however, managed to finish three races in the northernmost race course. The Italians of Vivace (Nicolussi-Sivitz) are ranked first, followed by Enjoy 1.0 (Tomelleri-De Luca) and the Spanish Luis Albert, skipper of Patakin. Leaders of the Corinthian division are the Spaniards of Abril Rojo, with Jorge Perez Canal at the helm.

The Race Committee, chaired by Giancarlo Crevatin, has set the first warning signal for tomorrow at 8:00.

Quote from Giancarlo Crevatin, Principal Race Officer

"With the Gold Fleet we managed to complete only one race after a series of restarts and black flags. After that, the wind came up from all sides then fell off again, leaving us with no way to continue. Fortunately, on the other field, things went better for the Silver Fleet. Tomorrow morning we will start early with the Peler, in an effort to get back on track with the program so we can conclude Saturday with the last races and bring home a successful championship."

Gold Fleet Results after Day 3: (top five)

  1. Yacht Club Rimini Sailing Team, Francesco Farneti (ITA)
  2. Jcurve, Mauro Roversi (ITA)
  3. DAS Sailing Team, Alessandro Zampori (ITA)
