Sailors with disABILITIES is pleased to have a film in the 2019 NOVA Employment Focus on Ability Short Film Festival.

Titled 'Sailing Towards #myfreedom', the short-length film tells how one young lady with a disability had her outlook on life changed forever when she hopped on a yacht for the first time. The film was created by our Sydney-based volunteer Renee, with the intention to show sailing as more than an inclusive sport, where people with varying disabilities/challenges can come together to successfully sail a boat by focusing on each individuals abilities. Her main wish for this film is to show how the example of sailing could help us as we look to create a more inclusive society.

Did you enjoy it? We really encourage you to VOTE for it. There is a blue 'Vote Now' button directly below the film screen on the Festival's website. For your vote to count, you need to confirm that your email address is genuine by clicking the verification link sent to you in an email. This process prevents people using fake email addresses to boost their vote count.

Voting is important! The film who wins People's Choice will be awarded $5000. If won, this prize will be gifted to SWD's programs. Popular films also have the chance to be shown on TV and additional film screening events; a great opportunity for being seen by potential future clients, volunteers and donors.

We also encourage you to forward this email to your contacts, and tell them what SWD means to you and why they should take the time to watch Renee's film. Spreading awareness and optimism is important part of SWD's mission and if you would like find out more or to donate to Sailors with disABILITIES see sailorswithdisabilities.com
