Sailing Club of Rijeka and Porto Montenegro Yacht Club are inviting you to accept the challenge and join the seventh edition of the Thousand Islands Race, which will start in exactly 100 days, while the entire event is taking part from 19th to 29th of September 2019.

This 600NM race will take you through one of the most beautiful archipelagos, among 1244 Croatian islands and rocks, as well as the overwhelming Montenegro coast - as we like to point out, the best sailing course nature could design.

The race is sailed in two legs, the first one starting from Rijeka on Sunday, the 22nd of September, leaving islands Unije, Susak, Premuda, Dugi Otok, Kornat, Vis, Lastovo and Sv. Andrija on the starboard and finishing in Porto Montenegro Marina in Tivat. The second leg starts on Thursday, the 26th of September, from Tivat, sailing the same way back to Rijeka. The competitors can decide whether they want to participate in both or only one leg of the race.

Before the race start, a short tune up race is planned in Rijeka on the 21st of September. After the first leg finish, on the 25th of September, "1000 islands + 2 race" will take part in Boka Bay.

In addition to already outstanding sailing experience, social events in Rijeka and Porto Montenegro Marina add up to the entire event, with gatherings, evenings and prize giving, seeing fellow sailors and meeting new friends.

The first Thousand Islands Race gathered 12 teams who recognized the potential of its idea, a long-distance offshore race with a course set along the Croatian and Montenegrin coast. It gives you both, the beauty of navigating among islands and the offshore experience which can be quite challenging in the Adriatic.

The fastest Thousand Islands Race was in 2015 when both leg records were set by Wild Joe, while the largest edition was the one in 2016, gathering 23 teams and 14 nations. The LuciaX team joined all Thousand Islands Races so far, followed by Wild Joe who missed only one. Check out our Hall of Fame and History section for all results and boats that joined the race so far.

Entries in monohull division need an ORC Club or ORC International certificate and for multihull division, MOCRA certificate. Double handed, one-design or boats of the same type or production model are also accepted as separate categories.

Entry fee is 700 EUR for both legs or 500 EUR for one leg.

NOR, Entry form and all other details are available on our website
