The third event in the RS400 Scottish Tour took place at ELYC North Berwick on weekend of 1 and 2 June. Sixteen boats arrived with a good mix of old hands and some new faces to the Scottish fleet.

Unfortunately the breeze on Saturday decided to not settle and PRO Ben Wilcox was doing his best to get a course laid. Eventually one race went ahead, with some boats struggling to get across the start line. Mike Sims with top gun crew Keith Bedborough managed to find the little breeze there was to win. After the race the fleet headed back to the beach for some waiting cold beer from Stewart Brewing.

The forecast for the Sunday was much better, with a F3-4 and some nice strong gusts. Mike and Keith sailed a perfect regatta with five 1st places, only two boats briefly managed to get in front of Mike being Jon/Amanda from Lochaber and Peter/Ruary from Dalgety Bay SC.

Battle commenced for the remaining places, Philip/Neil from Tynemouth, Jon/Amanda and Neil/Euan from Dalgety Bay SC fighting for 2nd and 3rd places overall. A capsize by Jon/Amanda on the last lap in race 3 was costly resulting in a 10th place when in a strong position. Neil/Euan missed the last race. With a consistent set of results 2nd place overall by 1 point was Philip/Neil and Jon/Amanda were 3rd place overall and 1st resident Scottish boat.

Congratulations to Mike Sims and Keith Bedborough on winning the Scottish Champs. Mike is collecting a number of wins - Northern Champs, Sprints and Summer Games, wonder if he going for a full set of championship wins! The next event for the Scottish tour is at Largo Bay SC on the 22/23 June.
