Have you ever done CHRW (a.k.a. Fed Week) before? If the answer is "yes" then then it is most likely you have done it several times because just about anyone who has done "Fed Week" comes back again and again. Here are eight good reasons why it attracts around 400 boats every year and why it should be on your bucket list...
- All bar one event is sailed within the boundaries of beautiful Chichester harbour. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
- The harbour is a perfect and sheltered piece of water which provides a challenge for the experienced but more importantly is undaunting for those taking their first steps in a major regatta week.
- There are many competitors with a wealth of experience ready to help. We even hold short seminars on how to improve techniques and hints on harbour racing.
- Racing this year takes place in the afternoons on the top of tide and courses are designed to allow tidal gates to come into play and provide racing with an interesting 3-dimensional challenge of wind, tide and opponents. The race is not over until it's over!
- The whole race management team are extremely experienced, and things run smoothly over the 4 different course areas. Safety is of major importance. Results are often posted before some competitors have returned ashore.
- Hayling Island Sailing Club is the host venue and its facilities are amongst the best in the world for Dinghy sailing. The friendly staff cope superbly with the numbers and there is free parking.
- The atmosphere is sociable and family friendly. Live bands, BBQs, Photographer, Spot prizes, Disco nights and visits to other harbour clubs for quiz nights or just a drink with new or old friends are all on the agenda.
- There is something for everybody. Sandy beaches, SUPing, Wind and Kite surfing, local golf courses, cycle trails and not so far away the beautiful south downs with its magnificent walks and pubs.
