Once again, a striking fleet of many of the world's finest superyachts has gathered for the 2019 Superyacht Cup Palma, with hot competition on the cards and several on-the-water tussles expected.

The venerable Velsheda is back to defend her 2018 SYC title but will first have to overcome a no-doubt stern challenge from fellow J-Class contender Topaz.

Vying for honours in the heart of the fleet are a contingent of superfast creations in the 30 to 34m range, with Nilaya, Missy and 2018 class winner Win Win now recently joined by Open Season and Child of Lir.

The elegant Kealoha is making her first appearance at SYC, as is Huckleberry. Tulip will provide a superb example of the modern classic look, Stay Calm will do the same for the Nautor Swan brand, and Bequia will fly the flag for the spirit of tradition.

Meanwhile the 52m schooner Meteor will be making her mark as the largest vessel out on the Bay of Palma during this year's Superyacht Cup Palma.

Provisional Class breaks will be published on June 14. Full Sailing Instructions for Superyacht Cup Palma can now be downloaded from the event website. The instructions can be accessed by navigators, tacticians and RRS Safety-Afterguard-Members, as well as any other crew requiring the information to prepare for the regatta.

If not already submitted, captains are required to complete the RRS Safety Afterguard Member Compliance and Information Form - also available on the website - and return as soon as possible.

Cocktail hour - Don't miss out!

Shoreside entertainment is always a key component of the SYC and gets under way on Wednesday June 19 with the SYC Welcome Cocktail Party presented by DYT Yacht Transport. It will be in the Race Village at the heart of the event - we look forward to seeing you there! RSVP to dyt.palma@yacht-transport.com

Marinepool Paddle Board Challenge and Limited-Edition Clothing

Always a highlight of the onshore entertainment, the Marinepool Paddle Board Challenge will be held on Friday, June 21 at 18:00. Yachts can submit one or more teams of four paddle boards. Contact Gunnar at gunnar.struckmann@marinepool.de to register your team.

In addition, Marinepool - an SYC Silver Partner - has created an exclusive limited-edition clothing collection featuring items such as polo shirts, caps and shirts complete with the SYC branding. Gunnar is again the contact.

Always Innovating: New To the Syc - Dock Side Sports Massages

For the first time SYC will benefit from having experienced sports massage therapists on site throughout the event courtesy of wellness experts Yoma.

Sports massage sessions will be available in the Yoma tent on the dock before, during and after racing, while a wide range of private booking treatments are available for owners and guests onboard yachts or at hotels. Bookings can be made through bookings@yomaexperiences.com

Classic sophistication and modern sensibility - Check out the St. Regis exclusive offer

Now a regular and valued member of the Superyacht Cup family, the St. Regis is again the Preferred Hotel Partner, this year with an exclusive package offer.

Combining classic sophistication with modern sensibility, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts is committed to delivering exceptional experiences at over 40 luxury hotels and resorts in the best addresses around the world, including the St. Regis Rome and the St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca.

The exclusive package - offered on the Marriott Bonvoy platform - combines special experiences at the Superyacht Cup Palma with a stay at the St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort.

Saving the Planet Bottle By Bottle

In other news, with plastic waste attracting global attention, RigPro has stepped up to support the Superyacht Cup's programme aimed at reducing single-use plastic water bottles alongside the Water Without Waste organisation.

RigPro, the service division of Southern Spars which is represented in Mallorca and Southern Spain by SYC Silver Partner RSB Rigging Solutions, is providing free refillable water stations around the dock. RigPro water bottles can be purchased at the bar for 10, with all money raised going to Asociación Ondine, a non-profit organisation dedicated to a clean Balearic sea.
