Over the last 3-4 years we have seen some great attendance figures for events in the International 14 UK calendar much down to the great work behind the scenes from members of the class spearheaded by Andy FitzGerald as class chairman, therefore, to further this trend the class is to start a ranking system.

In a system similar to classes such as the OK class the International 14 fleet will be using a formula which will address variables such as importance of the event, number of attendees, and the position that competitor has scored in the event to give a high score ranking number system. The events selected for the ranking system are open to all competitors and aren't club specific, a list of events is shown below along with their rankings (grade 1 most important and grade 3 least important):

  • Easter Tray (Itchenor - grade 2)
  • Walker Trophy (Itchenor - grade 2)
  • Hayling Hull (Hayling Island - grade 2)
  • Europeans (Flensburg- grade 1)
  • Gallon (Itchenor - grade 1)
  • Royal Bermuda (Itchenor - grade 2)
  • Hoptons (Itchenor - grade 2)
  • POW week (Falmouth - grade 1)
  • POW race (Falmouth - grade 1)
  • Tynemouth (Tynemouth - grade 2)
  • Autumn Trophy (Itchenor - grade 3)
  • Autumn Pint (Itchenor - grade 3)
  • Firecracker (Itchenor - grade 3)
Rankings will work like the current tennis rankings in that your ranking will never reset to 0 but as events from the previous year pass your old score from the event will drop off and the new one score will take its place. At the end of each year the winner of the event will win the Ranelagh Trophy which is a beautiful replica of an early International 14

The Easter Tray, Walker Trophy and Hayling Hull have already been sailed for and the current ranking top 10 are listed below:
