Kicking off this Friday, twenty-nine teams will rack up on the famed racetrack offshore from Mooloolaba Yacht Club for the Australasian Etchells Championship.

Graeme Taylor with his Magpie regular James Mayo will be joined by Olympic Gold medallist, America's Cup winner, former Etchells World Champion, and skipper of the Australian SailGP team, Tom Slingsby. This combination without a doubt will be in the mix pushing for what has so far been an elusive third title.

There are a number of teams who have claimed the title once, and will be looking to even the score of two regattas. Last year's winners, "The Cure" owned by Raymond Smith and skippered by David Clark have a new lightweight talent on board for this season, and will be pushing hard for back to back yellow jerseys.

It wouldn't be an Australasian Etchells Championship without Kevin and Ross Wilson, and their very precise and open methods for running races. The Mooloolaba Yacht Club, all involved with the organisation behind the scenes and competitors are extremely excited and thankful to have the Wilsons and their lovely wives, Sue and Glenys on the ground for the length of the regatta.

The Sunshine Coast Council are also once again on board for this regatta, keen supporters of the Championship since the first year. Those who have entered are definitely looking forward to a weekend at one of the most memorable regatta locations in Australia. Other sponsors include The Wharf, who are assisting with facilities, North Sails and Whale Spars.

Nic Douglass, Adventures of a Sailor Girl will be covering the event with live feeds each race including drone footage from H2O Media, so make sure that you tell your friends and family to get onto Facebook and watch this amazing regatta come to life in real time.

We hope to see you soon, whether in person or online as part of the Australasian Etchells Championship.
