The second sea open in the Gul sponsored Golden Dolphin series took place in the waters just off the East coast seaside town of Brightlingsea. The weather forecast was not good and put off many of the teams that would have to travel a long way. In spite of that the boats that turned up were in fact treated to a great day's sailing in winds that varied from 5 12 knots.

With an even more dire forecast for Sunday the Race team at BSC decided that they would attempt to get four races in on the first day. Sharing the race track with the Merlins, Hornets and Albacores it was a busy starting area.

The tide was to play an important factor and in the first two races of the day Peter & Tom Kyne from the local club showed the fleet the way round taking the gun in both races. It was not long before Ian Dobson & Richard Wagstaff got their bearings in their new boat and won the following two races with Peter & Tom in pursuit. Both on equal points the overall win went to Ian and Richard on count back. Paul Cullen & Simon Forbes sailed a steady series in spite of an OSC to take the third spot.

A big thank you to Brightlingsea Sailing Club who as it happened made the right call to get four races in on the Saturday and make an early call on Sunday to send everyone home.

Thanks also to Gul for their support and generous prizes.
