This year's 2019 Gul UK Fireball National Championships are at the Royal Torbay Yacht Club, situated on the beautiful English Riviera, and will be starting in just over a week! Torbay has to be one of the best sea sailing venues in the UK and the club has been voted 2019 club of the year. There is plenty of space in the sand-free boat park and easy access to the water via a wide slipway.

With entries including past and present World champions, European champions, UK National champions and Olympians, this event will be one of the most hotly contested of 2019. Our youngest entrant is 14, our oldest is 79! We've 13 sailors in the Under 26 category, 22 Masters and 17 Grand Masters entered so far. There aren't many fleets that cater for such a wide range of ages.

Torbay is a great holiday location for any non-sailors, with beaches, a steam railway, a zoo, coastal walks, and a water park all nearby, so this is an event not to miss.

Gul has kindly sponsored this event, providing incredibly generous vouchers for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Fleets, age category prizes and more, meaning there are opportunities to win wherever you are in the fleet! Also, during the four days of top-class racing, there will be spot prize draws where everyone is in with a chance of winning vouchers from Hyde sails and UK Global, who have donated a year's boat insurance for two lucky winners!

The long-range forecast is looking perfect for us to get four days of amazing racing in; the club website has a link to the short-range forecast for the area.

Entry includes a Commodore's reception, a two-course class dinner, and a night with musical entertainment. The club is also laying on a generous BBQ on the Monday night at a very reasonable price. Full details of the event, Nationals branded clothing and how to enter are on the UK Fireball website and the RTYC website.

Don't forget to bring re-usable bottles to take out on the water let's all try to do our bit to stop single use plastics.
