With an ideal northerly wind direction, the race team of Nick Yannakoyorgos and Alan Haywood had no trouble setting a true beat the full length of the lake giving a 1km upwind leg with two runs and a reach to complete the lap.

The course remained the same for the second race with the breeze giving occasional gusts to promote planing and the long beat holding true. This time it took rather longer for Alan Bishop to emerge a clear winner with Horey, Steve Ede, Roger Bennett and Mark Maskell jockeying hard for track position with boats sometimes arriving three abreast at the leeward mark.

During the lunch-break the wind had swung to the north-west and a new course had to be laid, this time with 2 shorter beats, a reach and a long run to complete the lap. Horey was buried after the start leaving Steven Bishop to pick up the third race win, chased home by Roger Bennett and Mark Maskell.
