In just over one month, the Etchells fleet will battle off the famed Mooloolaba beachfront over three days and seven races for Australasian Etchells Championship hosted by the Mooloolaba Yacht Club.

The only skippers to have won the event twice, Matthew Chew with Gen XY, and Graeme Taylor with his Magpie team of James Mayo and Steve "Mothy" Jarvin are not yet entered, but last year's champion "The Cure" owned by Raymond Smith and skippered by David Clark is on the list. Could they be on the path to take back-to-back titles and join the list of dual-winners...?

Time will tell.

Those who have confirmed attendance include the Wilson brothers, Kevin and Ross Wilson, who will once again lead the racing with their very precise and open methods for running races. The Mooloolaba Yacht Club, all involved with the organisation behind the scenes and competitors are extremely excited and thankful to have and their lovely wives, Sue and Glenys on the ground.

The Sunshine Coast Council are also once again on board for this regatta, keen supporters of the Championship since the first year. Those who have entered and are soon to enter are definitely looking forward to a weekend at one of the most memorable regatta locations in Australia.

If you are wishing that you could be there yourself, the good news is that there's still time to enter this fantastic event, and our loyal sponsor Newport Apartments still have rooms available for entrants who can pay for three nights and get the fourth night free. Other sponsors include North Sails and Whale Spars.

Nic Douglass, Adventures of a Sailor Girl will be covering the event with live feeds each race including drone footage from H2O Media, so make sure that you tell your friends and family to get onto Facebook and watch this amazing regatta come to life in real time.

We hope to see you soon, whether in person or online as part of the Australasian Etchells Championship.
