SailGP China Team, the third of the SailGP teams to launch on San Francisco Bay has emulated Emirates Team New Zealand's feat during the 34th America's Cup, when the Kiwi boat came with half a degree of capsizing on Day 5 of the Match. It is not clear what happened during the manoeuvre - however two crew can clearly be seen to leeward and the near-capsize is not a stunt created for the cameras.

The common factor between the two events is that there was a Kiwi on the help in both - Dean Barker in the 34th America's Cup, and Phil Robertson on SailGP China Team in April 25, 2019.

The SailGP Round 2 will be sailed on san Francisco Bay on May 4 and 5.
