Kiwi SailGP fans will be treated to a new SailGP documentary to be broadcast on Sky Sport 4 tonight ahead of Round 2 of Sail GP in San Francisco.

Entitle "Inside SailGP with Sir Russell Coutts", the Sky Sport documentary shows previously unseen video of the build of the F50 foiling catamarans at Core Builders Composites in Warkworth.

Sail-World NZ has previewed the full video which is not to be missed by F50 and SailGP fans. While cameras are generally prohibited in any America's Cup build, with the F50's being a one-design fans get some rare glimpses into the complex build process that goes into the foiling, wingsailed catamaran.

The new documentary features interviews with SailGP's co-creator, Sir Russell Coutts, talking to video images showing the F50's going through all phases of construction - some were converted from the AC50's used in the 2017 America's Cup, others were a new build.

All were fitted with new one-design systems, including the replacement of hydraulic fluid grinders with an electric battery bank.

Shot on location at Manly Sailing Club north of Auckland, in Sydney at the first SailGP event and at Larry Ellison’s state of the art boat building operation in Warkworth, Core Builders Composites (CBC). The Sky Sport documentary will premiere in the week leading up to the San Francisco leg of the SailGP series (4 - 5 May).

"Inside SailGP with Sir Russell Coutts" shows on Monday April 29, 7.30pm, Sky Sport 4 - Note the changed broadcast time from that originally published.

Below is the scheduled play for "Inside SailGP with Sir Russell Coutts".
