The 2019 Fireball World Championship will take place in Montreal from August 20 to 30. In an exciting change from the recent past, this year's sailing venue will be in a major urban centre, promising a tremendous array of activities when the sailing is done.

Montreal is a premiere tourist destination offering a unique combination of culture, fine and fun cuisine, night life and good sailing. Non-sailors will not be bored and the 2019 Organizing Committee is determined to share the highlights of our city with our visiting guests.

Pointe Claire Yacht Club is home to the largest Fireball fleet in North America. Club members embraced the class from the earliest days of Fireball sailing and are looking forward to hosting competitors from all over the globe. The first wide-bowed Fireball made its debut in the 1986 Montreal Worlds, winning the title and causing measurers years of grief ever since. To be perfectly clear, and to avoid any accusations of Canadian responsibility, it was an Australian team that introduced this innovation. We anxiously await the next revolutionary change.

Pointe Claire Yacht Club is only a few kilometers from Montreal's international airport, and a twenty minute drive from the downtown core. There are two international shipping ports, making the transport of boats from overseas relatively easy. There is still time to reserve container space for your boat. Sailing takes place just minutes from Pointe Claire Yacht Club on a large body water that will likely offer a range of challenges to all. The Race Committee has been appointed and has begun preparing, committed to ensure a world class competition. Our highly experienced team understands the needs of the Fireball class.

The local Fireball gang is not currently sailing, as the lake is covered by about one meter of ice and the temperature is currently at -12 C. This predictable turn of events has permitted time to be devoted to creative planning for your visit. Despite our challenging winters, our summers are pleasantly hot. Our Notice of Race is available on-line at goo.gl/Q1hFLr and more information can be found at 2019.fireballworlds.com. We would love to see you in Montreal.
