The Clipper Race is pleased to reveal Spinlock as its new Official Lifejacket Supplier for the next two editions, 2019-20 and 2021-22, of the biennial round the world yacht race.

Spinlock will be kitting out each of the eleven Clipper Race crews with Deckvest VITO lifejackets, the latest Performance Safety Lines and personal AIS devices when they embark on the epic 40,000nm race this summer and will provide expert training and support, for both organisation and crew.

On the announcement of the new partnership the Clipper Race Co-Founder and Chairman, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, said: "The toughest sailing challenges can only have the highest standard of equipment. That is why we welcome Spinlock as the Official Lifejacket Supplier to the Clipper 2019-20 Race to provide top of the range lifejackets for all our crew to use."

With 85 per cent of Spinlock products currently being exported, the award-winning manufacturer is focusing on markets outside of the UK and will utilise the global marketing platform offered by the Clipper Race route to grow opportunities and brand awareness in markets where the sport of sailing must be encouraged, cultivated and developed.

A long-time admirer of the Clipper Race, not least because of the challenge of completing the endurance race, but also because it introduces people from around the world into the wonderful sport of sailing, Spinlock CEO Chris Hill, comments: "Spinlock is delighted to be working in partnership with Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in providing the latest products from our 'Protect Range' for their Race Crew.

"Like Spinlock, the Clipper Race recognises that safety equipment should be treated as personal equipment and that crew will perform better and enjoy their sailing more if that product is designed to fit well, allow them to perform without hindrance, feel like a piece of sports equipment, whilst of course performing as a piece of safety equipment if required."

As an Official Supplier to the Clipper Race, Spinlock will amplify its brand awareness around the world and aims to play a part in developing sailing in new regions.

For over 40 years, Spinlock has been designing and manufacturing best-in-class sailboat equipment endorsed by the world's top sailors. As a manufacturer of personal protective equipment, Spinlock has to have rigorous systems in place to ensure products are of the highest quality. The British manufacturer, based on the Isle of Wight, designs and develops products that sailors want to use and want to own.

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is a race like no other, it takes people from all walks of life and with rigorous training, top class equipment and professional support, provides the tools to turn them into ocean racers. Enabling everyday people to take on some of the world's toughest oceans and conditions for the race of their lives.

The Clipper 2019-20 Race will commence summer of 2019 from the UK with the global route stopping in South America, South Africa, Australia, China and the USA, before returning to the UK 11 months later.
