In an effort to ensure the proper, fair inclusion of qualified sailors at the XVIII Pan American Games (PAGs), US Sailing is announcing an important requirement for individuals interested in competing at the event.

The XVIII Pan American Games will take place in Lima, Peru on July 26-August 11, 2019. The sailing events will take place August 3-10 across 11 classes. Sailors in the Laser, Laser Radial, 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17, Men's RS:X, Women's RS:X, Kite, Lightning, Snipe, and Sunfish classes will have the opportunity to represent the U.S. in Paracas, Peru.

Eligible sailors hoping to compete at the PAGs are required to be included on the "delegate list" sent to the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) by US Sailing.

The delegate list is an official list of all possible competitors who may qualify to represent the U.S. at the PAGs. In order to be considered eligible to compete at the PAGs, sailors must complete the necessary registration with the USOC.

The deadline to register for the delegate list is March 22, 2019. Note that, with the exception of the Lightning class, all selection events will conclude after this date.

Any sailor who has earned selection to the U.S. Pan American Games Sailing Team and has not completed the registration will be ineligible to compete at the PAGs. In the case that one or more team members has/have failed to complete the registration, said competitor(s) will be replaced in accordance with the Selection Procedures.

"The Pan American Games provide an amazing opportunity to represent the country," said Malcolm Page, US Sailing's Chief of Olympic Sailing. "As we near the conclusion of selection, US Sailing is excited to welcome more sailors into our Pan American Games family."

Sailors who are interested in representing the U.S. at the PAGs must preemptively send their full name to US Sailing's Olympic Coordinator, Kate Drummey, at to register for the delegate list.
