Notorious on the Australian race circuit for its consistent high performance, and all things blue, Ker 46 Patrice is on the market.
Built by the McConaghy yard and launched in 2013, Patrice is a slick full-carbon construction race yacht with an impressive results record. Like all the Ker 46s, which have performed well on the international race circuit in recent years, Patrice is a stand-out in the fleet, sporting more impressive optimisations than her contemporaries, since Australia's Race yachts broker and pro-racer Jason Rowed oversaw some effective optimisations in 2016.
He tells us, "I annually race on three different Ker 46s, one based in Europe, one in Hong Kong, and Patrice based in Australia, so I can tell that the optimisations have made a significant difference to her performance. Designed and built for lightness, without compromising strength, with a high modulus carbon fibre mast with titanium fittings, Patrice now sports a new longer bow-sprit for increased spinnaker area, plus high performance North 3Di working sails. Updated designs of the rudder and a new low CG high tensile fabricated keel fin have improved balance and performance, so Patrice performs exceptionally well. She's fully IRC optimised, and has proven exciting and competitive against boats of all sizes, in all weather conditions"
Therefore, its unsurprising that Patrice has been a podium winner in most races she has competed in since her launch, including division wins at the Airlie Beach Race Week 2014, and in the same year, the Rolex Sydney Hobart race. Passionate owner Tony Kirby was named the CYCA's 2017 Ocean Racer of the Year after taking the Blue Water Pointscore championship, topping the IRC and ORCi divisions, as well as achieving first place in her class and third overall in the 2017 Sydney Hobart race.
2018 was another successful year for Patrice, with key results including third IRC/ORCi in the PONANT Sydney Noumea Yacht Race, first IRC/ORCi in the Groupama 600 Round Noumea race, third IRC in the Australian Championships, and second IRC in the NSW Championships.
