Fan mail for the crew of Motorboat II, who elected to suspend racing on Leg 2 of the 2019 Round NZ Race to repair a busted prodder - and maybe a pair of blown out shorts.

Some encouragement sent from home for Motorboat 11 - with supporters like these who cares about the results?:

DEAR DAD

Hey Dad! It’s us - your three perfect boys!

How you going Dad, bet you are missing all our NOISE!

Mum said you broke the prod and that’s really bad luck – but Dad, if it’s broke, you should just put it back up!

You’re a lucky guy Dad with all your great mates – lots of people helping to fix the prod before it’s too late!

We also hear it’s wet onboard and you have a wet bum – you said you needed new wet weather pants, so we went to get some.

Mum drove all over Auckland, North, East and West to find some pants that would fit you the best.

Apparently, Dad, you’re not a standard size – so we had to keep searching and Mum kept rolling her eyes.

The traffic was real bad Dad, but I guess you ain’t got none -just keep an eye out for giant albatross Dad, it would be wicked to see one!

We found some new pants for you that look pretty great – we hope they keep your butt dry in the choppy sea state.

Jacs is amazing and is bringing down all your spare parts - we hope you haven’t killed Uncle Damon with all your big farts!

Did you eat all your food Dad? Did you have to eat that freeze dry crap?

We will have lots of pies for you when you get back.

We watch the tracker each day Dad, just to find you – the red line looks straighter Dad, but you do whatever you gotta do.

Your videos are funny Dad and Uncle Damon is too

You always have a blinder Dad with the best crew.

The boat looks real fast Dad, the green is super cool - please come home on a week day Dad, so we can get a day off school.

But seriously Dad you will always be our hero – doesn’t matter if you’re doing 18 knots or zero.

We hope you win the next leg Dad, hope you have fun – if you wanna do this race when we are older Dad – can we come?

You’re almost in Stewart Island Dad, that’s a really neat spot

We hope you have a cardigan Dad – we’ve heard it’s not hot!

Anyway Dad you probably want to go have a rum – Mum thinks you might have run out – but we know you always hide some!

Any case Dad we really gotta go – we are hiding from Mum to avoid chores and she’s about to blow!

So we will sign off Dad and be on our way – is this your new job Dad – sailing every day?

You’re our best Dad in the world and from us to you

We LOVE you Dad
