The Helly Hansen National Offshore One Design (NOOD) Regatta St. Petersburg is set to begin Friday, February 15 and continue through Sunday, February 17.

The regatta is hosted by the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and it is Helly Hansen's fifth year as title sponsor for the unique national regatta series.

The editors of Sailing World magazine launched the regatta series in 1988 to grow interest in one-design keelboat racing. The regattas have grown to be North America's largest and only sailing regatta series consisting of five events including San Diego, Chicago, Annapolis, and Marblehead, Mass. The series concludes with an overall championship in the British Virgin Islands.

Boat owners or team representatives will report to the St. Petersburg Yacht Club in the evening on Thursday, February 14 to complete registration and for a Skippers' Meeting. Racing is scheduled to begin each morning at 10 a.m. and no race will start after 2 p.m. on Sunday. The race committee intends to run as many races as is possible each day on windward/leeward, triangle or a variation of these courses.

The St. Petersburg Yacht Club will host evening parties, and an award ceremony on late Sunday afternoon.

Nearly 160 boats will compete in 15 classes of one-design boats. Competitors will race in Tampa Bay, east of the harbor entrance.
