It's been a busy weekend of coaching in the 420 class, with sessions running at Datchet and Largs and bringing together sailors from across the UK.

At Largs Neil Marsden made the most of the conditions on Saturday to take the fleet 'north' and nearly out of sight. Sunny but cold, the fleet enjoyed a great day on the water. Sunday saw the wind pick up considerably and the fleet took the chance to pick Neil's brains on tactics and set up from the warmth of the clubhouse with video footage used to illustrate key points.

Tim Rush ran the coaching at Datchet, assisted by Jess Lavery and Pippa Cropley. With windy conditions both days, and the forecast for Sunday to be worse than Saturday a long day on the water seemed to be the best solution for day one, with an early start to get ahead of the breeze on Sunday. The conditions tested the group with gusty conditions providing some exhilarating sailing.

The next activity for the class is the Tiger Trophy on 2 and 3 February where the 420 class currently look to be making up about 25% of the fleet, a real tribute to John Merricks and great news for the class. Sponsorship from Pure Business Group will enable the class to present class specific prizes at the event.
