Australia has the world's best 100ft Super Maxis, so if you've dreamed of racing amongst the big guns, here's your chance.
As there's not many super maxis in the world, it's encouraging to the class that this is a yacht that has been upgraded and immaculately maintained to stay exciting and competitive. Extensive design re-modifications by the original designer Bakewell-White, at the respected Cookson's yard in NZ in 2014, saw impressive gains in the yacht's performance, with Transpac wins for Rio 100 in 2015, and again in 2017, as well as some impressive line honours and race records to her name.
'This is a unique opportunity to enter the highest level of the sport,' says Race Yachts broker and pro-racer Jason Rowed. 'With the modifications, Rio 100 is more than a downwind flyer. They did a great job of designing and building a boat that is lighter, faster, longer and more balanced than its previous version, making it a good all-round performer'.
Sporting a stylish interior, modified for easier and more ergonomic movement of crew and sails, plus even more recent upgrades to the value of US $250,000 including new electronics, hydraulics and power systems, makes the asking price of US$2.45m exceptional value, especially as it includes an extensive inventory including many new sails, fittings, and cradle.
Acclaimed for her sleek and elegant good looks, and with an impressive performance history, Jason tells us that Rio 100 is a boat that both looks good, and goes good.
