P class: Day 1 of Tauranga Cup blown out

The first day of racing in the Tauranga Cup, the national championship for P Class was cancelled due to strong northerly winds gusting to 35kts - as recorded at nearby Wellington Airport.

Strong winds from the same direction are forecast for Sunday.

The regatta is being held at the Evans Bay Yacht & Power Boat Club.
