In 2017 Kialoa II finished this race in a very respectable time, despite breaking her boom on the first day. In 2018 this Sparkman and Stephens classic reveled in the strong downwind running of the first day with 5 sails flying, stuck it out through some light patches mid race and then finished her run with a typical upwind thrash around Tasman Island and across Storm Bay in 30 plus knots, arriving in Hobart with no damage at all.

We spoke to owner/skipper Paddy Broughton about his race and their plans for Kialoa in 2019.
