With Wild Oats XI taking line honours in the 2018 Sydney to Hobart, sailing fans already have plenty more thrilling races to look forward to in 2019.

The first ever SailGP Sydney Grand Prix will kick off in Sydney Harbour in February 2019, featuring the world's fastest catamarans reaching breathtaking speeds of up to 100km per hour.

The first race in the global SailGP championship, it will see Olympic hero Tom Slingsby lead Australia's crew, competing against national teams from China, France, Great Britain, Japan and the United States for a coveted $1 million prize.

Australian fans will be the first in the world to witness the most technologically advanced catamarans in the world ripping through Sydney Harbour. Races will then take place in San Francisco, New York City, Cowes (UK) and Marseille (France), where the champion will be crowned.

SailGP Australia skipper Tom Slingsby said:
"This year's Sydney to Hobart was one of the most exciting I've ever seen. Congratulations to Wild Oats XI, including my SailGP teammate Sam Newton.

"Thankfully there is plenty more sailing action just around the corner, with the first ever SailGP race kicking off in Sydney Harbour in February."

Tickets are now on sale for the SailGP Sydney Grand Prix, 15-16 February 2019 on Sydney Harbour. For tickets and further details visit sailgp.com/races/sydney.
