Clipper Race crew member sets sailing record

Former Clipper Race crew member Lisa Blair has rewritten the history books once again, becoming the first woman to circumnavigate Australia solo and unassisted.

After 58 days and more than 6,000 nautical miles, Lisa has returned home safely to Sydney. It's the second world record in as many years for the 34-year-old, who also became the first woman to circumnavigate Antarctica solo after she completed a 35-day circumnavigation of Antarctica last year.

Like many people who sign up for the Clipper Race, Lisa wasn't a sailor before embarking on her circumnavigation as a crew member in the 2011-12 edition of the race. However, her team Gold Coast Australia went on to win the overall Clipper Race trophy and since then, she has gone from strength to strength in the world of sailing.

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston says: "Congratulations to Lisa. This is an impressive achievement and I am very pleased that a member of the Clipper Race family has once again made their mark on the world stage.

"Lisa's feat is just another example of the incredible things our crew achieve after taking on the Clipper Race and I look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next."
