On August 20th, 2017, the crew of Visit Seattle 70 started their journey on the first leg of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2017-2018, in Liverpool, England. As one of the most demanding amateur sporting event, this race takes you across the globe. Divided into eight legs and 13 to 16 individual races, each crew has the option to choose if they want to complete the full circumnavigation or select individual legs.

Within the large crew was Québec native, Simon DuBois. Choosing to stay onboard for the full circumnavigation, this sailor took his chances at fulfilling one of his biggest dreams. "The Clipper Race was everything I wanted and more. It started with a dream to sail around the world, a desire to push and discover my physical, mental and emotional limits and a desire to become a better leader"

Taking the year to race around the world onboard the Visit Seattle 70, the crew experienced lots of up and downs, but nothing stopped them for obtaining that second place finish!

Named Voile Québec's 2018 Sailor of the Year, this 31-year-old sailor is the first Quebecker to have taken part and completed this race. Having experience under his belt, Simon has been touring to share his experience and best practices to sailors nationwide.

"When I realized that no Quebecker had completed a sailing race around the world, I decided to share my journey and prove that everyone can accomplish extraordinary things. I wanted to inspire people to dare to go after their own dreams, no matter how big they are, and the best way is to lead by example and to write my own story."

Congratulations to our Helly Hansen Sailor of the Month - Simon DuBois, and all the crew aboard the Visit Seattle 70.
