Wakatere Boating Club is proud to announce Symonite as the title sponsor for the 2019 OK Dinghy World Championship, to be sailed from Wakatere on Auckland's North Shore, in New Zealand, in February 2019.

Since confirming the event will be held in New Zealand, WBC has been in discussions with many local Auckland businesses and it was the enthusiasm of Symonite, and its owner John Cobb, for the club, the OK Dinghy Class and the World's concept, and their strong support for sailing in New Zealand, that shone through.

Wakatere BC commodore, Simon Porbert said, "We are delighted to have them partner with us as our title sponsor. We will be sharing more about the event, and Symonite, in the build up to February with the OK global and local communities."

The announcement comes alongside news that 110 entries have been received prior to the December 1 early entry deadline. This makes it the largest ever international OK Dinghy championship to be held outside Europe in the six decade history of the class.

OK Dinghy International Association President, Mark Jackson, from Australia, said, "We are absolutely delighted that we have a title sponsor as well as a record pre-entry for the 2019 World Championship. It is continuing evidence that the OK Dinghy class is generating a huge amount of interest and enthusiasm for sailing these dinghies worldwide. We are all really looking forward to this championship."
