The Manly Sailing Club on the Whangaparoa Peninsula, a 35-minute drive north of Auckland CBD is to lay host to the World Championships for O’pen Bic class, a fast, small entry level skiff that’s easy to rig and maintain.

Manly Sailing Club commodore Sir Russell Coutts was the key figure in bringing these future champion sailors to New Zealand for this event. At last count there were over 100 entries from around the world. It is certain they will have an excellent time and a memorable regatta at the beautiful Polkinghornes Bay.

Practice racing will take place on December 27 and 28 with the regatta set down for December 30 – January 4.

Vice Commodore and New Zealand sailing legend Harold Bennett is the highly qualified Director of the event. With such a great team, great venue, an awesome fleet of young sailors all at a great time of year it’s going to be an excellent place to visit to take in some of this regatta.

Venue: Manly Sailing Club, Polkinghornes Bay, Manly, Whangaparoa, New Zealand.
