Malaysia next stop for the KTA Asia Pacific Hydrofoil Series

The KTA Asia Pacific Hydrofoil Series heads to Desaru Coast Malaysia, for the next round of its new perpetual grassroots kite foiling competition tour.

The event will run from the 14-16 December 2018 with a 5000 USD prize purse up for grabs, with free entry for riders that register to compete online.

Headline sponsors, Desaru Coast is Malaysia's most anticipated new tourism developments. Situated on the east coast of the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, Desaru Coast is redefining this beautiful coastline in State of Johor by creating a unique blend of globally renowned resorts and villas, a riverside dining haven, a conference centre championship golf courses and an adventure waterpark that boasts a pretty cool wave pool.

Situated in municipal area of Pengerang, Desaru Coast is bringing back new life to the 22km stretch of unspoiled beaches that are easily accessible from Singapore by ferry or car. Desaru Coast brings an important balance to the region that has boomed in recent years due to the development of the Pengerang Petroleum Complex. This has brought 10's of thousands of workers to the area and new transport infrastructure that travellers can also take advantage of to reach the new resorts at Desaru.

The KTA event beach itself, is located not far from the waterpark and wave pool at Desaru and while accommodation is spread out a little around the area, transport will be arranged daily to bring everyone into the event site. The KTA is anticipating great conditions at the site for the competition and building winds as the SE monsoon in Asia settles in.

Desaru Coast promises to be a great location for the KTA event and kite foiling. A location that given the support of Desaru Coast is set to establish itself as one of Malaysia's kiting 'hotspots' for the future.

KTA Event Director Willy Kerr said: 'the KTA is very excited to be partnering with Desaru Coast to bring to Malaysia its first ever KTA international event since its founding in 2009. To open up a brand new location to the kitesurfing world and give the Asian riders another chance and platform to perform on the international stage, fits perfectly with the ethos of KTA. I have no doubt that Desaru coast event will be the highlight of the 2018 tour with many of the riders anticipating a top class event in a top class destination'
