The Johnson 80 is an entry-level superyacht that offers the level of interior customization that has helped Johnson Yachts to make its name over the last 30 years.

With eight units delivered so far between US and Europe - the Taiwan yard has always focused on building yachts with superior levels of interior volume compared to the other yachts available, and the latest Johnson 80 is no exception. Johnson Yachts is proud to share details on the latest build, featuring a distinctive interior design by Karen Lynn Interior Design.

Because the Johnson 80 has a 20-foot, 8-inch (6.30-meter) beam that carries well forward, the interior volume can meet the needs of owners who wish to entertain aboard or enjoy extended cruising. Since Johnson Yachts pays close attention to performance and handling, the desired customization of the interior layout leaves the critical engineering spaces intact.

As with all Johnson Yachts, the owner in each build in the series is expected, and even encouraged, to depart from the designs of those before. The Johnson 80 benefits from the exterior lines of Bill Dixon at Dixon Yacht Design, who has made use of a bank of vertical windows on the front of the superstructure that create panoramic views from the main-deck interior, while giving the yacht a consistency of profile with other builds from Johnson Yachts.

"We're very excited to share the details of the newest addition to the Johnson Yachts fleet," said Andy Huang, president of Johnson Yachts. "With the proven engineering of the Johnson 80 in place, we can work with the owners to create a yacht with the flexibility to accommodate their needs, whether they wish to entertain friends on board one day or depart for a month-long cruise the next."

The latest Johnson 80 has a saloon living area aft with a large L-shaped settee and a pair of loose armchairs. Distinctive ottomans add to the flexible seating, and the entire area is a showcase for the owners' taste in art. A multi-panel sliding glass door in the aft bulkhead opens to meld the saloon with the cockpit in a fluid indoor-outdoor area. Forward on the main deck is a country kitchen, highlighted by an open galley with marble countertops and backsplashes paired with stainless steel appliances. An island serves a two-stool breakfast bar. On a single-step platform sits an expansive L-shaped dinette with a table in matching marble with 180-degree views through the forward windows.

Similar to other series-built superyachts, the Johnson 80 has already been built in different versions. One version has a skylounge and the benefits of an aft galley for easy service of both the aft-deck dining area and an expanded main saloon. Another build in the series has the open flying bridge, a forward helm, formal dining convenient to the amidships galley, and a saloon that commingles easily with the aft deck.

On the lower deck, there's a four-stateroom layout. The amidships master makes use of the full beam, with a large master head and walk-in closet. A divan and desk/dressing table round out the features, though the owner will decide the final specification. The forward VIP has an island berth and a dressing table, and of course a private head. Two double guest staterooms fit a double berth or a pair of twins, and come standard en suite. A Pullman berth can increase the accommodations. As with all Johnson Yachts, choice of finishes, style of interior, and fabrics are virtually unlimited and allow the owner even more customization.

As the Johnson 80 nears completion more views of her custom interior will be revealed, as well as insights into expectations regarding her performance and handling.
