Kinsale Yacht Club has been chosen to host 2020 National Squib Championship

by Michele Kennelly 4 Oct 2018 11:42 PDT 21-26 June 2020

The Squib Fleet in Kinsale Yacht Club are delighted to announce that KYC has been chosen as the venue for the 2020 National Squib Championship. It will take place from 21st to 26th June 2020. This event comes to Ireland every 5 years in recognition of the size of the Squib fleets, both North and South of the border. Visitors are expected from all over Ireland and Britain for six days of racing in the waters outside Kinsale harbour.

The event will also incorporate The Irish Squib National Championships.

There will also be a variety of social events organised. As Kinsale is the gourmet capital of Ireland visitors can be assured of a wide selection of restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets.

There are a large number of hotels, guesthouses, B & B's and self catering accommodation in the area along with areas suitable for parking of motor homes.

The event was recently held during Cowes Week and attracted a fleet of 100 Squibs. Colm Dunne and Fiona Ward in Allegro represented KYC at the event. The word on the street is that the British fleets are very excited at the prospect of visiting beautiful West Cork and we look forward to welcoming them to Kinsale.
