Sixty sailors are meeting in Noumea to participate in the New Caledonia 29er and Optimist Sailing championships from 18 to 21 October 2018.

They come from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and New Caledonia. They are all between 8 and 18 years old and enjoy sailing competitions.

Two New Caledonian clubs, the SRC and the CNC are very proud to organize the event. We hope the sailors will enjoy our trade winds, sea temperature of about 25 degreesC, and easy sailing.

Optimists

Forty sailors have confirmed their entries in the event; 10 from Australia, 10 from New Zealand, 2 from Fiji and 20 from New Caledonia.

The favourite is probably Aurel Martin who finished 2nd in the French National Optimist Championships last June.

The competition will be interesting and we look forward to high intensity races.

29ers

Ten entries confirmed; 7 local teams, 2 Australian teams and 1 NZ teams, 7 open and 3 female teams.

We hope all teams will have a good regatta. It will be good preparation to improve their skills before Sail Melbourne, Sail Sydney and the NZ championships.

The best 2 local teams will participate in Sail Sydney in December.

Fun and good sailing are expected!

  • Sunday 14 to Tuesday 16 October: Training session
