Congratulations to Dee Smith for winning a Bronze Medal in the 2.4mR event at the Para World Sailing Championships 2018 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, hosted by Sail Sheboygan and SEAS.

A record 101 sailors from 42 nations raced across four events. The field of U.S. sailors also included: 2.4mR – Kevin Holmberg, Charlie Rosenfield, Tim Ripley, Jeff Reinhold, Daniel Evans; Hansa 303 Men – Jim Thweatt; RS Venture Connect – Eli Workman/Cindy Walker. The U.S. team was sponsored by Gill North America and Guldmann Care-Lift Solutions ULC.

Smith had this to say following his Bronze Medal performance: "I believe the biggest key to success is prep. Ninety percent of races are won before the start. Sails are the biggest item in the prep process. I worked with Mark Reynolds from Quantum and John Gluek from Dimension Polyant. I was the first sailor on site so I was able to get in phase with the weather and current. I had a good strategy that was sound from experience and observation. I applied what I learned to the race so nothing was a surprise and this helped me stay consistent throughout the regatta."
