All hopes to complete the single elimination in the freestyle windsurfing discipline were on the last day of the event.

Sunday started with a light onshore breeze from the right wind direction slowly building up at noon, but the sky fully covered in clouds prevented the thermic effect to kick in for a suitable wind strength to continue with the quarterfinals. Crew and riders were playing the waiting game until 16.00h competition was finally called off.

With an action packed tow-in competition, but unfortunately no result in the freestyle windsurfing discipline because the full single elimination could not be completed, the team of Camping Las Dunas and Fase Wind put again all their efforts together for wrapping up this event with a great closing ceremony.

At 17.00h everybody was gathering at the main stage of the camp site for the official pricegiving. The Tow-in podium with Adam Sims (Patrik/Sailloft) in first, Mattia Fabrizi (Patrik) in second and Steven Van Broeckhoven (JP/Gun Sails) in third place got awarded with their trophies and Steven on top received the special Las Dunas Best Trick trophy for the highest scoring move during the freestyle windsurfing heats.

The whole EFPT crew and all the riders had been treated more than well during this week at Camping Las Dunas and it seemed to be hard for everybody to leave this amazing place. We are looking forward already to bring back the tour here next year again. Big thanks to all the people involved to make it happen!

Now the tour is moving on to the final event of the season in about a month. The Dam-X event in Brouwersdam, Netherlands once again is hosting the showdown of the year with multiple divisions for men, women and juniors freestyle windsurfing as well as the tow-in discipline.

Tonky Frans (RRD/RRD) will be going into the event with a lead of roughly 100 points over his closest followers Steven Van Broeckhoven (JP/Gun Sails) and Giovanni Passani. But with the 200 points to win at this three-Star event in Brouwersdam and another discard coming into play, the battle for the 2018 European Freestyle Champion title stays exciting till end! In the tow-in discipline it looks like a close fight between the two Patrik teamriders Mattia Fabrizi (Patrik) and Adam Sims (Patrik/Sailloft), who is currently 30 points ahead.

EFPT Las Dunas Costa Brava 2018 results:

Tow-in Freestyle:

1. Adam Sims (Patrik/Sailloft)
2. Mattia Fabrizi (Patrik)
3. Steven Van Broeckhoven (JP/Gun Sails)
