The 2018 Sail Canada Youth Championships kick off today at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club (RCYC). The opening ceremonies mark the first day of the event, followed by 4 days of racing in the Laser Standard, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7, C420, I420, 29er and Nacra 15 classes.
Sailors have slowly been making their way over to the island, as some attended the Sail Canada Youth Olympic Training Seminar (YOTS) that took place over the weekend (August 24-26). Lead by experienced coaches, Olympians, and National Team athletes, the youth sailors learned some of the best tips and tricks to improve their sailing. "It's great to see our youth sailors working with coaches to improve their skills." Sail Canada CEO, Don Adams mentions. "We are very happy with the turnout of this weekend and look forward to following these athletes as they progress through their sailing career."
With over 113 registrants gathering from across the nation, this week will prove to be a great event. Stay tuned for results throughout the week, as sailors compete their way to the top and receive prizes from our partner, Helly Hansen.
