The Narragansett Bay Classic Yacht Rendezvous, a combination of the Panerai Herreshoff Classic Yacht Regatta and the Panerai Newport Classic Yacht Regatta, returns August 23rd to the 26th to celebrate classic yachts, both power and sail, and the importance of the craft associated to the history, heritage and their restoration.

On Thursday, August 23rd the Panerai Herreshoff Classic Yacht Regatta commences in Newport, Rhode Island with a race from Newport to Bristol. Following this, yachts will race within the vicinity of Upper Narragansett Bay before competing in the second distance race from Bristol to Newport marking the start of the Panerai Newport Classic Yacht Regatta on August 25th.

One of the many highlights of the four-day event is the traditional Classic Yacht Parade for both sail and motor boats which will take place at 10:15am on Sunday, August 26th. The parade is open to the public and for the best experience members of the public should visit Gurney's Resort and Marina where they'll not only get the best view but also hear the extraordinary history of the boats through commentary from William Crisp and Andy Green. "We are excited to participate in such a quintessential sailing event as it reaches its 39th year in Newport." said George Filopoulos, President of Gurney's Resorts. "We look forward to welcoming four exciting days of racing, and having new and returning guests alike join us for onshore festivities throughout the week."

If members of the public are unable to make it to Gurney's Resort and Marina they'll be able to view from the following vantage points: IYRS marina, Bowen's Wharf, Bannister's Wharf, the Newport Yachting Center dock, King's Park Pier and the Sail Newport Waterfront Center at Fort Adams. The yachts will be vying to win the coveted Classic Yacht Parade awards including Best Sail, Best Power, Most Patriotic and Best Costumes.

The public is invited to enjoy Newport Harbor and the timeless beauty of the classic yachts on display in the IYRS marina at the Welcome Cocktail Party on Saturday, August 25 from 6:00-9:00PM at IYRS in Newport with entertainment by the Honky Tonk Knights.
