After five days of practice, measurement and registration, twelve GBR teams have started racing at the International 420 Worlds in Newport, Rhode Island, one of the most iconic sailing venues in the world.

There are 336 sailors from 18 countries, so not only a fantastic opportunity for team GBR to test themselves against the best but also to make friends around the world via this truly international class.

Conditions for the event were expected to be challenging and day one didn't disappoint, with racing taking place in a shifty 6-8 knots (and a temperature of 85 degrees). Teams from all nations had mixed results and consistency is likely to prove particularly important with similar conditions anticipated for much of the event.

Stars of the show from a team GBR point of view were Eleanor Keers and Aaron Chadwick who posted an 8th and a 2nd in the qualifying series - a brilliant start. Full results can be seen on the event website, 2018worlds.420sailing.org/en/default/races/race-resultsall
