RS Tera World Championship at the RS Games, Weymouth & Portland - Day 4

Day four of the RS Tera World Championships at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy delivered champagne sailing, with 12-16 knots of wind funnelled through the course by low dark clouds.

In the first race of the day for the Pro fleet, Ben Tuttle took the win, ahead of Abby Hire of Royal Lymington YC. In the Gold fleet, William Bailey of Ripon SC took the win, however received a penalty following an arbitration decision. William James finished second. In the Silver fleet Ben Stokes of HISC took the win.

Race 2 of day four saw Hire take line honours, this time Tuttle settled for second. Following a cracking pin end start, Freddie MacLaverty raced to first, followed by Olly Peters of HISC. Papercourt SC's James Carleton won the Silver fleet, with Harry West of Royal Lymington YC in second.

The final race of the day brought gusts of up to 20 knots. Sophie Johnson flew across the line to take the win with Abby Hire in second - girl power! After 40 minutes of hard racing, three boat lengths separated the top three boats across the finish. Gregan Bergman-Smith of HISC edged ahead to cross the line first, William James second and Alice Davis from Great Moor SC in third.

Ben Tuttle, the 2016 RS Tera Pro National Champion, has now become the 2018 World Champion with a day to spare. Even if Tuttle had two shockers on the last day, counting his previous worst results is still not enough to cost him the championship. Entering the last day, Olly Peters leads over Alice Davis on count back, William James just one point behind. Nickolas Ellis of the Isle of Man retains his lead in the Silver fleet.
