You blinked, and July is but another memory. The months are clicking off, and November is just around the corner. The Winter racing season will soon be upon us, along with the SORC Islands in the Stream Series, beginning off of South Beach, Miami, with the 85th Anniversary Nassau Cup Race, hosted by Coral Reef Yacht Club, Storm Trysail Club and Nassau Yacht Club.

Make plans now to get the season off to a good start with the pre-race festivities and Skippers Meeting at the Coral Reef on Wednesday, November 14. Gather off of South Beach on Thursday morning for the race across the Gulfstream to Great Isaac, around the Berry Islands and down to the finish in Nassau harbor. As always, Saturday brings J22 match racing in Nassau, so bring your rock stars and get ready to mix it up. Wrap things up at the awards presentation and dinner at Nassau Yacht Club on Saturday night.

The Series moves quickly after the Nassau Cup, with the Wirth M. Munroe Miami to Palm Beach Race, the fabled “Race to the Buffet” starting off of South Beach on Friday, December 7. January takes the fleet south in the Ft. Lauderdale to Key West Race, after which the intrepid will set off in late January for the Pineapple Cup Montego Bay Race. The series will wrap up with the fourth running of the Miami to Havana Race. Stay tuned for more details as the dates near, but get to work on the Nassau Cup sooner rather than later. Don’t blink, or you will miss it.

Havana Update: due to a scheduling conflict that arose after we set the date for the 2019 Miami to Havana Race, we will be resetting the date for the race in the very near future. Watch the race website and the SORC Facebook page for the announcement.
